Carlos Alba-Vega is Professor and Researcher from El Colegio de México (COLMEX) and holds a PhD in Social Sciences from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris (EHESS). He has been a Member of the Board of COLMEX and has taught and been a Visiting Fellow in universities in Mexico, France, Germany, and the United States. In his research, he has addressed informal economies, processes of globalization and a broad range of political and economic development issues in different regions of Mexico. Carlos Alba has been a council member of (a number of journals, including) the Revista Mexicana de Sociología (Mexico), Tempo de Ciência (Brazil), Perfiles Latinoamericanos (Flacso-Mexico), Espiral (Mexico), Argumentos (Mexico), Sociétés Contemporaines (France), and Frontera Norte (Mexico). He was also responsible for the Mexican branch of the project ‘Between Spaces’, which created an interdisciplinary group of doctoral investigators in collaboration with Freie Universität Berlin (FU Berlin).

Professor Gloria Chicote, based in Argentina, is a literary scholar and the current Director of the Instituto de Investigaciones en Humanidades y Ciencias Sociales (IdIHCS), a joint research institution of the Argentinian Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (CONICET) and the Universidad Nacional de La Plata (UNLP). She is also a member of the scientific committee Centro de Estudios de Teoría y Crítica Literaria of the Facultad de Humanidades y Ciencias de la Educación of UNLP. Professor Chicote holds a PhD from the Facultad de Filosofía y Letras of the Universidad de Buenos Aires. Her recent work focuses on popular Hispanic literature from Spain to Latin America and takes a comprehensive perspective of literary parameters for the understanding of cultural processes.

Juan Piovani is Professor at the Facultad de Humanidades y Ciencias de la Educación (FaHCE), Universidad de La Plata (UNLP) and Researcher of the Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (CONICET). He holds a PhD from Sapienza – Università di Roma and received the Houssay Award (2014) for his theoretical and empirical proposals in the field of research methodology in social sciences and the empirical analysis of employment and gender. His research focuses on Social Sciences in contemporary Argentina and the theory of sociological research methods and techniques.

Laura Flamand currently works at the Centro de Estudios Internacionales of El Colegio de México (COLMEX). She earned her PhD in Political Science at the University of Rochester, New York (2004), after undertaking a pre-doctoral fellowship at the Department of Political Studies at the University of Oxford. She became Research Professor at El Colegio de la Frontera Norte (Mexico) in 2004, and has been a member of the Mexican National System of Scholars since 2006. Her research focuses on a comparative analysis of political institutions, intergovernmental public policy, social inequalities and applied statistics. Laura Flamand has ample experience in academic leadership as she has coordinated more than fourteen research projects with external funding from the World Bank, the United Nations Development Program and several government agencies in Mexico.

Samuel Barbosa is Professor at the Law School of the Universidade de São Paulo (USP), a permanent researcher of the Centro Brasileiro de Análise e Planejamento (CEBRAP), and former President of the Brazilian Institute of History of Law (2016-2019). He is one of the coordinators of the Legal History Network, based at the Instituto de Estudos Brasileiro (IEB-USP). He holds a PhD in Theory of Law from USP and a Master’s degree in Studies in Religion and the Old Testament from the Universidade Metodista de São Paulo. He completed his postdoctoral studies at the Max-Planck-Institut für Rechtsgeschichte und Rechtstheorie (Max-Planck Institute for European Legal History) in Frankfurt, Germany, where he was visiting-researcher on several occasions. His research focuses on the multi-sited formation of normative orders and their conflicts.
